A Little Encouragement Can Go A Long Way

"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken."  Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT

I love this picture!  I cannot tell you how many times I have had to stand on the scale at the doctor’s office and wanted to either run or cry!  For the first time in a long time, yesterday I was excited to stand on the scale at my doctor’s office.   The nurse even said, “Wow, I usually have to push and prod people to stand on the scale.”  I replied, “Just wait until you see why I am jumping on the scale!”

The nurse took a double take and then said, “Congratulations! You have lost 42 lbs since we last saw you in June!”   Even when the doctor came in and saw how much weight I have lost she started cheering for me!  Later another doctor came in and he started cheering for me and telling me to keep up with the good work.

I’ll tell you, it felt so good to hear praise and encouragement from my doctors.  But I especially love to hear it from my friends and family.  I have such a wonderful support group praying for me and cheering me on in regards to my journey to a Healthier Me.  My church friends are even going to have a party for every 50 lbs I loose!   I’m moving towards my first party!  Woo- hoo !

My hubby is my biggest supporter.  He is like that girlfriend in the picture above.  Sometimes I want to weigh myself more often than I should.  All of us know that there are times throughout the day and even certain days of the month that our weight will fluctuate so it is important to only weigh once a week.  When I find myself wanting to get on the scale too often, my hubby will say, “Don’t do it – it’s not time yet to get on the scale.”  Why does he do that?  He doesn’t want to see me get discouraged or cry.  He knows that if I stay on course the weight will come off in due time.  He tells me every day how proud he is of me.

As much as I love to hear the praise and encouragement from doctors, friends and family, I mostly love the encouragement from my truest Friend of all – My Lord and Savior!  His Words of encouragement bring me hope and inspiration to KNOW that I CAN do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.  (Phil 4:13)

Thank you to all my cherished friends and family who continue to cheer me on to victory!  It may take some time to win the battle – but it will be won!
